WATERPROOF PRODUCTS​

Waterproof fatliquors and polymers are technically the most advanced products.
Mostly based on (reactive) silicones with special dispersants and/or emulsifiers to make a homogeneous water-soluble fatliquor/polymer.
Another path is to use a high pressure homogenizer. You make a stable final product based on micro-emulsions with a diameter smaller than 0.2 micron.
Key in Alters process is chemically modifying a reactive silicon in order to achieve maximum interaction with Cr and proteins. In this case the waterproof product is homogeneously divided into the hide. Very stable batch to batch performance. Final product is low in D4,D5,D6 cyclomethicone, fully in accordance with current legislation.
A full 10 ton industrial batch can be made in 3 hours, maximum temperature is 90 degrees Celsius (194 F).
